Big Motoring Worlds Car of the Week: BMW I8
We’ve seen a fair amount of sleek looking metal making its way through our photography studio recently and our current arrival is no exception. Arguably one of the leading models of the hybrid sports car revolution, we are delighted to offer for sale this fantastic BMW I8.
When this car first launched it was met with somewhat of a mixed reaction. The consensus over this car’s looks, however, was almost unanimous and was met with universal praise. The question mark around this car was the fact that it is a hybrid. Given a car that looks so good, and built by one of the worlds premium motor manufacturers was this car an injustice and did it deserve a throbbing V8 engine to compliment those gorgeous lines?
This talk was before this machine even turned a wheel and happily when the worlds motoring media finally got their hands on it, this machine was met with critical acclaim and has arguably played a role in changing the stereotype of electric cars.
Worthy of its sports car categorisation the BMW I8 is a real technological masterclass that has the looks to complement it’s impressive ability. Upon first glance, it would be easy to assume that this thing has come back from the future. Looking 10 years ahead of its time, the sleek profile and highly sculpted front and rear aprons immediately let you know that this car means business and it looks fantastic finished in its Sophisto Grey paint job. Completing that exterior look is those eye-catching dual coloured alloy wheels.
Open the door and climb aboard and you are met with a cabin that is just as futuristic as it’s impressive interior and features copious amounts of comfortable leather and blue and silver coloured trim detailing. This car is also specified to a fantastic standard and includes the following to name but a few, Double wishbone suspension, Drive Performance Control, Multi-link rear suspension, Ambient interior lighting, Sport multifunction leather steering wheel in black with a satin silver accent with gearshift paddles and a Leather instrument panel.
Whilst this car is a hybrid and has a certain element of electrification, this I8 see’s a conventional 1.5-Litre engine alongside and an automatic gearbox in order to provide a smooth and fuel-efficient ride. Because this car is hybrid it is exempt from vehicle tax. This machine also comes with a service history.
Fresh into stock, this car has covered a mere 19,648 miles and benefits from seeing only one previous keeper. Available now at our recently opened Blue Bell Hill facility, this car has to be seen to be appreciated and full details on this particular car and our other BMW I8 can be found over on our website, here.
