Geneva Motor Show 2018 reveals the all new Mercedes-AMG G63
Another icon of the motoring world, the Mercedes Benz G-Wagen has generated somewhat of a cult status for itself over recent years and has become a popular favourite with both petrolheads and Mercedes-Benz fans alike. Designed initially as a military vehicle and 4x4 workhorse, the G-Wagen is very utilitarian in its looks and abilities featuring enormous flared arches to accommodate chunky off-road tyres and a go anywhere four-wheel drive system. First rolling off the Mercedes production line as a civilian model way back in 1979, to this day it is one of the longest produced models in the manufacturer's history. Fast forward well over 35 years and the G-Wagen’s standing in the car world has changed dramatically whilst it’s design recipe has stayed true to its roots, these days you are more likely to find the G-Wagen appearing in music videos and cruising the streets of the nation's capital than trawling through a muddy wasteland, but this is in part the result of the German manufacturers desire to offer an alternative to the Range Rover. The recently unveiled 2019 variant brings the model further up to date and on display at this year's Geneva Motor Show was the G63 AMG example. Taking the new variant as it’s base, the technical boffins at their in-house AMG division have swapped in a full fat, 4.0-Litre V8 BiTurbo engine which is capable of delivering an incredible 577 bhp. The exterior has been finely tweaked as well with the G63 AMG able to accommodate up to 22-inch alloy wheels, a new radiator grille, even more enhanced flared wheel arches and side pipes, all in an effort to give this machine an even sportier edge. With an interior close to rivalling S-Class standards from a technology and comfort point of view and whilst the Mercedes G63 AMG might not be on sale until 2019, you can still find a range of over 500 used Mercedes on our website here.
